Losses. Irreversible

In my previous report with old photos of Romualdas Požerskis I intentionally not published two photos from 1979 and 1977. These photos represents one painfull loss of this city. Of course city must develop and everything cannot remain the same. But some losses are particularly painful.

One of the biggest street in this city these days are Karaliaus Mindaugo prospektas (earlier Pergalės krantinė). Street runs near the Nemunas river and goes from old town till the end of the center. In fact street effectively cuts city from the river:

But situation wasn't always so: once the part which runs near old town was not a wide avenue but a cosy embankment.
